There is nothing I love more than baiting fellow CSICON writers, and once again I get the chance here. Screen-shots from the new Walking Dead video game have been released proving once again that Video Games are better than Comic Books.
Yes, the tired medium of the ‘graphic novel’ aka children’s books are once again lurching like a legless puppy to try grab hold of the polished golden heels of the video game developer Gods begging for a video-game tie-in so that hopefully they can make some profit and receive some artist recognition, or at the very least, some food.
Normally the video games lords would scoff and laugh at the comic book underling as they skip off over a flowery grassy hill into the sunset hand-in-hand with other actual art-forms but not this time as the comic book medium scrounger has managed to tie down a TV series in the form of the Walking Dead. So the video game supreme overlords have decided to take pity on the diseased ridden comic book industry to bring them some joy in the form of this game.
And so here we have it. Walking Dead the Video Game by Tell-Tale Games. No surprises here that a new storyline is being introduced (probably since the Comic Book writers are too busy colouring in) that centres around Lee Everett, a prison inmate who escaped during the zombie event, and Clementine, a seven-year-old orphan. The game is set to be mostly character driven and follow a similar style to Tell-Tale Games previous adventure games such as Back to the Future and Jurassic Park.
No definite release date yet but hope are pointing towards a Summer 2012 release.
